How To Play $10 No Limit Tournaments
6-10 Players Left
When there are this many players at the no limit table, you must be careful
which hands you play. But, at the same time, the blinds are cheap, so you want
to play more hands. Sounds like a delema. No worries, Poker Watchdogs is here
to break it down for you. When you are in position 1-7 (1 being first to act)
you should only play super quality hands. The super quality hands you should
play are:
Pairs that are 8 or higher
Ace - Ten Suited or higher
When you have these hands, you should raise 2-3 times the blinds (this is to
scare other lower hands out...you don't want to get beat by a pair of sixes do
you?). When you are in position 8-10 (before small blind, small blind, and big
blind) you should play the following:
Any Pair
Jack - Ten Un-Suited or higher
Raise when you are in these positions and have the above hands. Do not be the
first person to go all in when there are 6-10 people left. Instead, raise with
nice strong raises usually 2-4 times the big blind.
4-6 Players Left
Now that the field has been widdled down a bit, it's time to get slightly more
aggressive. Change up your style of play. Play more hands, but stick to playing
the premuim hands (Jack - Ten or better). Suited connectors are ok to play now
also if you have not been raised. This is still not the time to go all in
unless you have the nuts (the best hand possible...usually a flush or better).
When you see the flop and still have nothing and no one has bet, try putting
out a tester raise of about 1.5 times the big blind. This will let you know
where you are at in the hand. If someone raises you, you better be super
careful. Try to talk yourself into folding, remember you have nothing and this
isn't the World Series of Poker! Also, you are very close to being in the
money.
2-3 Players Left
Take a deep breath, you made it into the money and you will take home more than
you put in. The amount of chips that you have will dictate most of your moves
now. If you have 1/4 or less chips than the chip leader, then wait for two good
cards and go all in. If you have more chips, play aggressive. Raise when you
are the small blind. Raise whenever you get an Ace or King, but be prepared to
fold if you are re-raised. If you have a premium hand, don't hesitate to move
all in. Keep in mind that any pair will most likely take the pot now. Most of
the time, the more aggressive player will win when down to 2-3 players in No
Limit Holdem Tournaments.
